I made a project for my school on the United Nations Sustainable Goal of creating sustainable cities. I presented it and many people liked it. I also went for a KHDA What Works, Expo 2020 presentation for the same from my school. After all this happened I decided to post my project on my blog.

The theme in hand was to build a sustainable city by making fundamental changes to Urban Architecture.

This project is a prototype of a proposed Urban household design which would be fundamental for making a sustainable city, a reality. In this model I have mainly focused on 3 key concepts:

1. Green Balance: Plantation and Greenery as a mandatory part of any building premises to ensure proportionate existence of concrete and nature since plants absorb 25-50% carbon emissions.

2. 2 point plumbing system: Segregation of waste and reusable water locally in each household for irrigation purposes. To enable this, the sinks in the washroom and kitchen will have 2 outlets. One can be blocked and other kept open, which would allow simple segregation based on used water quality.

3. Use of more renewable energy sources: Usage of solar panels for irrigation system, have solar panels on the roof which will produce 30% of the electricity. The roof is also slanting as it will help in rain water harvesting. There will also be electrical car charging points which will encourage owners to buy electrical

cars.

I believe that this project, if taken into consideration will help spread knowledge of UN sustainability goals and ways to achieve it. It would strengthen understanding of simple solutions and therefore encourage implementation of ideas, to drive an important concept of reuse and reduce. Schools can be a role model to drive awareness of the issues and possible solutions, since educating peer group and collaborating with students can create awareness across an entire generation, thereby creating strong influences on adults.

A prototype of this architecture can set a strong example by reducing dependency on non renewable energy sources, thus saving fossil fuel potentially by 30%.
